Happy Birthday USA~!!
We started the day at my parents house, for the big 4th of July parade and picnic. It's really a great feeling seeing your kid enjoy the same stuff you did growing up. I can remember dressing up my bike. We would get playing cards and use clothes pins to hold them against the spokes - gives your bike that 'motorcycle' sound!
We got the kids down to the end of the street and waited to join the parade. ....had enough time for a couple pics.
Noah, Trey and Lauren are ready
to go!
...just goofing around...
MRS. RED WHITE AND BLUE!
I thought for sure this would be the year Lauren played under the fire hose
...but no. She can ride roller coasters, but is still scared of the water.
She got close enough to watch, but that was it.
Of course, everyone loves the pool.
Lauren HAD to wear those goggles.
I tried to explain that she wouldn't need them unless she was going to put her
head in the water.
But see, Trey was wearing his...so of course.
Howdy!
Yummy, Yummy
At around 2:00 we left the neighborhood party and headed over to a friends house for a pig roast. Yes, he actually roasted an entire pig.
So there ya have it - the 4th of July pictures. It was a great weekend - and if I remember right, it had been raining all week before - so it was nice to have good weather for the 4th.
The following weekend we went to Austin. I LOVE going to Austin. We left Saturday morning for a wedding Saturday night. It's was my dad's bother's son's daughter's wedding. ...no kidding. Anyway, it was a beautiful wedding, and an awesome reception.
The next day, we made a quick drive around the UT campus, then met up with a long time friend of mine. I've known Jay since second grade, and we've always had a lot of fun hanging out together. We took Jay's boat out on Lake Travis, and Lauren really enjoyed her first boat ride. We headed over to Carlos and Charlie's for a leisurely lunch, then made it back across the lake, got back in the trusty Jeep and made the journey back home to Houston. It was a great weekend.
