I've lived in Houston all my life. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have parents who took me to places like AstroWorld. I can remember being SO EXCITED to go. AstroWorld has changed a lot over the years. While looking for the title image above - I stumbled across a great website about AstroWorld. www.sixflagshouston.com I especially enjoyed reading the timeline - as it was like a trip down memory lane. Jeez, I'm sounding more and more like an old, old man.
Well, I suppose I shouldn't avoid the truth any longer - I am an old man. As such, I sure did enjoy taking my daughter to AstroWorld for her first time. I couldn't have been more proud of her. We started off slow, with the Bamboo Shoot. She was a little scared at first, but soon began to relax and enjoy floating down the water in that bamboo boat. The big drop off was a little scary - but when she realized her face didn't get wet - she was begging LET'S GO AGAIN DADDY!
Next we rode the Serpent. It's a kiddy roller coaster - and Lauren LOVED it! She was laughing and screaming with me...we had a blast. I literally had to drag her off that one.
Unfortunately, I think we pushed our luck with the next ride - The Mayan Mind Bender. It's an indoor (dark) roller coaster with a scary ancient Mayan theme. Lauren kept telling her mommy she didn't want to go, and I knew it was probably going to be a bit much for her, but Jacqui was persistent. Poor Lauren, she cried the whole way. She told us later - that was a scary ride for big kids - I don't like scary rides.
So off to kiddy land we went.
That's no fake smile - I
had a GREAT day!
Hmmm, does
this thing go any faster?
As you can see, Lauren had completely recovered from the Mayan Mind Bender incident, and was ready to go!. She rode a lot of rides, and had a blast! At one point she told me - these rides are too slow! Well, all right - WoooHoo! So, we were off to the GunSlinger. She was a little scared, especially being completely on her own - but she did GREAT!
We're on there somewhere!
I tried to get Lauren to
drive....really, I did.
