Port Aransas Vacation

Yet another vacation with my good friend Jay!  He and I have been taking vacations together since we were kids, and now we drag along our wives and kids.  This time we opted for a beach getaway, down on the barrier islands of Texas - Port Aransas. Little did we know a major category 5 hurricane would cut our vacation short.  But, we had a great time in the few days we had.

This is the view from our room.   Nice eh?

Lauren and Claire enjoy the pool.

Lets go swimming!

Even little Christopher likes to sit by the pool.

Austin wasn't feeling good this trip, so he didn't get much time in the pool.

But Lauren made up for it - she swam and swam and swam...

..and swam, and posed and swam...

We had beautiful weather and everything was great for the first few days. But, hurricane Rita started to threaten, and a mandatory evacuation was ordered for Corpus Christi and Port Aransas.  It was crazy after that - we drove back home against a sea of traffic. We waited in line for gas. I'll spare you all the details, but eventually Jacqui, Lauren, Austin and I ended up flying with my mom and dad in his 4 seater plane.  Yes, six people in a 4 seater. We flew to Dallas and stayed with Jacqui's Aunt and Uncle. They have a VERY nice place and - to be honest - it was a cushy evacuation. More like a continuation of the vacation really. Too bad I didn't get any pictures...
