Random Pictures from 2020
The year 2020 will certainly be marked in the history books. It was CRAZY!! And I really shouldn't complain - we are all healthy and there are no serious threats to us personally. However the world wide Covid-19 pandemic certainly hit everyone hard. There have been over 500,000 deaths in the US and it nearly devastated the economy, our health care and education systems. Like many others. I lost my job, and four months later I'm still looking. All of Austin's high school and Lauren's college classes went 'virtual' - with mixed results. Restaurants and shops were closed - the Houston Livestock Rodeo was canceled as well as every large event - sports - concerts...everything. Oh, and we also had all the political fallout of the 2020 presidential election. Yeah it was CRAZY!
2020 was marked with drastic changes - and I guess as I get older I realize I'm not a big fan of change. ..so...well - as I said - we are blessed and I really should not complain. So with that in mind, here are some random pictures from 2020,
Paris is
shamed
"Yes, I'm eating a cupcake Christmas tree decoration"
Back
in January of 2020, when I was still employed, I'd sometimes walk the streets
of downtown Houston and take pics of whatever I found interesting.
Check out the original building architecture underneath the newer siding that
was removed because of fire.
And here's another old building getting covered up
And a brand new building going up a couple blocks off main street
As the new buildings go up - the old come down
In mid-January, Jacqui took the kids up to A&M while I was at the ranch
I think this was taken in The George Hotel
They enjoyed some nice weather while there.
This was taken in Mid-February.
And yeah, I was at the ranch then too.
Mimi at the end of February - before her Covid panic set in.
Early March Sunset
Mid-March
Jacqui and I brave Covid to get our Lupe Tortilla fix
Also mid-March
The beginning of lots of Skype and MS Teams conference calls
The end of March and things are getting kinda scary.
No mask mandate yet, but "social distancing" becomes a thing
Jacqui and I both start working from home 100%
...and start drinking early too.
Paris is happy - her people are home all the time now!!
Those flowers need to be pruned - they are all dropping in the pool
On our way to the ranch, we encounter our first 'masks required' spot at Buc-ees.
Since neither of us had masks we had to improvise.
Late April and Jacqui now has a very fashionable mask.
It's Jacqui's Birthday!!
So we were not going to let a pandemic stop us from celebrating
No way!!
It's Benihana time!!!
Yes, it was supposed to be 25% (or 50% - not sure) capacity - but it was pretty
full if I remember.
Regardless, we celebrated Jacqui's birthday with some delicious Benihana!
We also broke quarantine in early May for a little get together at Tim and Kathy's
Late May....Lauren and Bella enjoy the summer
Another Covid party late May at Julie and Kenns
Mid-June
Yep, another hard day at the office.
September,
and Lauren heads back to A&M
While the school took (outrageous IMHO) actions to keep the kids safe,
most were getting back into the party groove
A formal party in early October
I'm glad Lauren was able to enjoy some normal college fun during these crazy
times.
In late September we got a new puppy!
Reese and Paris get along great,
Late October, and Austin made a homecoming mum!
Yes, Austin really enjoys his flower design class
Lauren and her friends on Halloween
Late November - Lauren and Natalie
Hey Austin - it's raining outside!
Mid-December - probably studying for finals
