Austin's Senior Year in High School

Congratulations Austin~!~!~!! You graduated High School class of 2023~!~!~! Austin's time in high school was vastly different than what Lauren experienced. For starters, Austin and Lauren have different personalities. Lauren is more outgoing, while Austin is somewhat reserved. While that may account for some of the differences in their high school experience, I also blame the whole Covid mess for really having a terrible impact on Austin's time in high school. Can you imagine spending almost two years of your high school confined to your house, and not going to any games, parties or gatherings? It's also very different from waaaaay back in my day, as there were no 'on-line' friends. Well, there was no 'on-line' at all unless you count being on the phone. But I digress....

Towards the end of his senior year Austin did have a girlfriend of sorts. And right up to the end we thought they'd go to the prom, senior breakfast, and all the other year end activities. Unfortunately it didn't work out. Thankfully, I don't believe Austin was that 'emotionally invested' so it didn't seem to bother him much. In fact, I think in a small part he was relieved to not have to mess with it all. In fact, this is exactly what happened with the official graduation ceremony. Austin did not want to sit for 4 hours in the sun while they called out 1,000+ names from his graduating class. Instead, he said he'd prefer to just go out to eat at Benihana. And who am I to argue?

So instead of an official graduation ceremony, it was dinner at Benihana and backyard pictures of Austin in his cap and gown.

So we made the best of it....

I didn't know it was 'a thing', but I found out with Lauren that you MUST get professionally done senior pictures. Since we'd hired a photographer, we decided to get a few family pictures while we were there. So here's all of Austin's Senior Pictures!
