My
first visit to The Condo on Lake Travis
HOWDY! Here's the pics and vids from earlier this month when we took the kids to Lake Travis.
Lauren left Thursday with Nana
and Pops, so she was out on the lake early Friday morning.
The view from the 'lookout deck' was amazing
(look for huge panoramic shot further down)
Jacqui and I drove up with Austin Friday afternoon, and made it pool side before sundown.
Lauren and Austin both love to swim...
....and make funny faces.
This is the serious pose.
...and......
...the money shot - TaaDaaa!
This is the view from The Condo.
We started the day Saturday with a nice kayak ride on the lake.
We're ready to race!!!
(no, not really)
We paddled a pretty good ways out into the lake - almost made it to the island you see in the view from The Condo pic above. However, Jacqui started to get a bit nervous about getting run over by a speed boat. I kinda laughed it off, but after spending the day in Bill's boat Sunday - she was right. It's a good thing we paddled back when we did.
After the kayak, we spent the rest of the day at the pool playing with the kids (and drinking a beer or two).
Maybe I should
have put on more sunscreen....
That
night we had dinner at True Grits - and enjoyed a local country band.
We started the day Sunday with a quick trip up to the 'lookout deck'.
This swing was on the way up - and we couldn't resist stopping for a bit.

The original plan for Sunday was to take a quick spin in Bills new boat, and then leave around 2:00. That way, we could be home in time to get the dog from the kennel, unpack, etc. But let me tell you something - once you are riding around on the lake, swimming and tubing - it just doesn't get much better than that. ...we didn't leave until after 6:00, and I was pretty happy about it.
Off we go!!!
The only thing in this picture that is NOT beautiful - is that hat.
It still pains me to see it in these pictures.
Despite that, Austin had a BLAST!!

When we got out to swim, Bill would drive the boat around to make waves for
the kids....
That next wave must be HUGE!!
WOOHOO!!
Having fun? (ohhh yeah)
Every boat should come so well equipped.
The Captain.
Nice shades.
Just another average home on Lake Travis.
The structure on the right is the famous Oasis Mexican Cantina.
I spent many (probably too many) afternoons in my college years on the decks
of the Oasis.
It burned down several years ago, and was since rebuilt.
Now, they are adding even more space.
Is that really someone's house? ...jeez.
Let's ride the tube!!!

So long Lake Travis, see ya next time!
