Double B Ranch - 2025 - May through Early July

Today is July 9, 2025. Six days ago, on Thursday morning July 3rd, I left the ranch and drove my truck to Kerrville where I swapped into the Jaguar for the rest of the drive home. I had no idea that the next morning would bring such devastation to the area.

Since the tragedy in Kerrville, we've been watching the news until I'm at the point of being overwhelmed. Every day the numbers of dead and missing continue to rise, and seeing the devastation in the area is heartbreaking.   ...I'm at a loss for words.

I suspect my truck is ok, though that's such a trivial thing in the scope of it all. Anyway, before making this update I wanted to say "prey for those impacted by the floods, and God bless Texas"

Let's start with some pictures from the trail cam I set up next to my watering hole.
Look - Turkey~!

Damn Pigs!

More than anything, I see lots of deer.

A Cardinal mid-flight

...and more pigs than I can count.

Where's my gun?

We had a late spring this year compared to last

We also didn't get all the beautiful spring flowers this year, but did see a few late blooms

Lots of deer just outside the blind

Yeah, we got a few late blooming flowers this year

And I found another artifact

The Texas hill country can be rough - but beautiful at the same time.

I got a new grill~!
Now I don't have to go to the barn and start a fire to cook

Wait - that's not the ranch!
No, this was taken at my brother's house in Austin.
I had to get a shot of the Jaguar with the Aston Martin

Jacqui and I stayed at my brother's and visited a local winery

Bill Jacqui and I enjoy a beverage on Bill's back porch

Ilonka joins us of course!

Yee Haw!

On this weekend, Lauren, Trey and I were going to go horseback riding at the Bit and Bridle Stables.
Unfortunately, Trey couldn't make it - so it was Just Lauren and I
We had a BLAST!

When I took the shot, I was sure I hit the pig - but he took off running.
Then I found this pile of rocks....

...yeah, I got him for sure.

Got this one in the pouring rain

CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO #4 - The rain is still coming down - but that didn't stop me from taking out a couple pigs!

Because of the heavy rain, all the pigs didn't run away at the first shot, and I was able to get this little guy also

It was a muddy mess

Hauling it away from the feeder

The sun sets on a wet evening at the ranch

A morning sunrise?
NO - that's a full moon lighting up the grass and casting shadows!!

Cooking on the new grill.....mmmmm

After things dried out a bit, I was able to mow the grass

Bill and I enjoy a late night at David's playing some games

Another morning horseback ride at the Bit and Bridle Stables

We had originally planned to have Lauren and Trey join us, but they partied too late in Austin the night before

BTW - this was Austin's very first time to ride a horse, and he did great!

Try to keep up Jacqui

SO pretty

Lauren, Trey and Bailey made it up later that day - and that night we played Rummy Cube

Good times at the ranch!

This young doe decided to rest under the porch for a while

Doing a bit of electric work for my landscape lighting
