Cozumel - Spring Break 2019

For spring break 2019 we decided to splurge on a vacation to Cozumel, Mexico. Since this will be Lauren's last spring break before heading off for college, we wanted to do something special. This was my 3rd time on the island. The first was way back in '85 when Frank Daniels and I went for Spring Break. The second was in '93 when Jacqui and I went with Jay and Ami. While there was a lot more development on the island, for the most part it hasn't really changed that much. It's still as beautiful as ever.

OUR FIRST FULL DAY IN COZUMEL

Happy 18th Birthday Lauren!!

Since we had a car, we took a quick tour around the island.

I watch the sunset with my feet propped up and a drink in my hand - Ahhhhhh

OUR SECOND FULL DAY IN COZUMEL

The breakfast buffet was awesome
Austin liked the waffles and pancakes - he even tried 'em with honey! (accidentally)

Oh - and Austin liked the bacon - lots and lots of bacon

You'll notice we are a little bit sunburned - probably should have applied more sunscreen that first day.

I thought the markets were neat, but the kids were a little surprised by how 'aggressive' the shop owners were.
It was nothing - they'd just try to sell you stuff or get you into their shop as you walked by.

And since Lauren just turned 18 - she was legal to drink a strawberry daiquiri
...

We had lunch at Coconuts, which was on a cliff on the ocean side of the island.

OUR THIRD FULL DAY IN COZUMEL

This was our last full day in Cozumel, so I took a lot of pictures.

I loved eating here. In the evenings for dinner they had an awesome 12 string guitar player

And for our last day, we chartered a boat for a snorkel tour

I looked at doing a group thing like the folks behind us here...but I like to be spoiled sometimes

It was beautiful....simply beautiful

At a place called 'sky beach' there were star fish everywhere - 100's of them.
And you can see a ray with fish following too

I had such a great time - hard to wipe that smile off my face

I think everyone really enjoyed the snorkel tour

And this was unexpected - we anchored at a sand bar, and were served some killer guacamole , chiveche, chips and fruit.

The sun is setting, so it's time to head back

Sad to be leaving, but we had a great time and were happy to be home.
