Lauren's Senior Year of High School

As I write this, Lauren has already left for college. Yep, my baby girl is all grown up, and has moved out of the house and into her own college apartment. It happened so fast. ...it's been hectic - Jacqui's work has been busy, and then add all the graduation, prom, college stuff on top of that - well - hectic, exciting, and sometimes a little nerve-wracking. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am so proud of Lauren. Her grades in HS were good enough (Summa Cum Laude) that she was granted automatic admission to both UT and A&M. She really had her heart set on UT and living in Austin, but she didn't get admitted into the Engineering or Business schools there - while she did at A&M. SO my daughter is an Aggie. Whoop!

Anyway, now that you're all caught up, here's some pictures form Lauren's prom, graduation, senior awards ceremony, the last walk, and her 'senior pictures' that were professionally taken (and it's obvious, as they really came out great IMHO).

The Prom Dress

OK - here's the story about prom. See that huge group of kids? All their parents got together and formed an unofficial 'prom committee' to organize and chaperone (1) dinner at the Sweetwater Country Club, (2) two limo busses to take them from Sweetwater to the prom (3) two limo busses to pick them up after prom. And while they are loading into the buses after prom, they are changing into casual clothes and giving the rented tuxedo's to designated parent pickup people (this was our job). (4) The limo busses then took the kids down to Galveston where they (5) rented two adjoining beach houses for Saturday AND Sunday night, as Monday was 'Senior Skip Day'. Man, these kids are spoiled, and yes, I'm as much at fault as anyone. Only the BEST for my Daughter!

This is a really neat tradition that RidgePoint does called 'The Last Walk'. It's a celebration of the last day, and the very last time the seniors walk down the hall and out the building.
For me - being there and experiencing it was fun and exciting, and a bit sad. It was really sinking in that my daughter was graduating from high school.

Before the walk, there's an audio/visual presentation with lots of videos from the year - football games and stuff like that. They also had a section where they had a 'before and after' picture of everyone like the one below.

OK - almost ready for The Last Walk....
