Jacqui and I are both fans of Shinedown. When we heard they were coming to Verizon on a Friday night - we knew we had to go! At first, none of our friends were interested, but after we got our tickets we kept pestering them. I mean, c'mon - Shinedown on a Friday night at Verizon - PARTY!!! Of course when we bought the tickets we didn't know we would need to have Austin ready for soccer the next morning at 8:00am.....but I digress...
Eventually Amy, Regina and Ryan also got tickets. We had planned to meet at El Patio for pre-show margarita's, but Jacqui and I were running late (noooooo, not us!). So we met at the show - and started taking pics....
Regina, Amy and
I grab a fresh cold one....
Amy, Ryan, Jacqui and .....what the hell is going on here Regina?
The girls pose with the lead singer from.....ummm.....one of the opening bands.
...and ummm, I can't see why Amy wanted to snuggle up with the members of Cavo.
One more quick pic before we head in to see.....

I was surprised
to find out they were a three piece band, with a girl bassist...

...and then it was time for
S H I N E D O W N !
I've always thought Shinedown put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen. I'm not talking about pyro - or lighting - I'm talking about the energy between the band and the audience. For me, a good concert is one with lots of energy. IMHO, even the best sounding concert can suck if there is no energy between the band and the crowd. So when I think back on this show, I can say it was AWESOME. Perhaps it was the alcohol, perhaps it was because I was so close most of the show...but for whatever reason - I felt that energy. Brent Smith may not be able to hit every high note every night, but he always seems to put as much as he can into getting the crowd worked up.

I know I've posted more pics than most folks care to see....but ...I've always wanted to be a rock-star. ...or at least a rock-star photographer. And when you're so close, and most every pic is good - it's hard not to post a lot.

I remember the
folks next to me saying "get some shots of the drummer!"
